Whether you’re visiting Florida for spring break, or you’re a year round resident, you’ll find that there’s a ton of things to do this May! Try some craft beer, attend one of the countries’ biggest jazz festivals or even experience a pirate festival!

Venice Seafood & Music Festival – Venice, FL

This festival is returning for it’s second year. Admission is free, but if you’re looking for a splurge the VIP option is totally worth it. $130 gets you an open raw bar and an open bar. Even if you’re not looking to splurge, the combination of seafood available for purchase and music is sure make for a fun time.

Delray Craft Beer Fest – Delray Beach, FL

This event bills itself as “speed dating for beer.” It certainly provides a vast selection – the $40 general admission ticket ($45 at the door) gives you access to 100 craft beers, ciders and wines. There’s also a VIP option that includes free pizza (and more) for $55. There will also be live music and food available for purchase.

Pirate Festival – Ft. Lauderdale, FL

This fun-filled festival in downtown Ft. Lauderdale has something for everyone – a contest for the best rum drink, a pet costume contest, a pirate gold tournament and more. Plus, admission is free!

Redland International Orchid Show – Homestead, FL

This event is perfect for nature and gardening lovers. Admission is $10 and gets access you access to the largest annual orchid show in the US. You can view a huge variety of flowers, hear lectures and try a variety of food from around the world.

Jacksonville Jazz Festival – Jacksonville, FL

If you’re a jazz connoisseur, you won’t want to miss this. This festival dates back to 1981 and takes place over 15 blocks of downtown Jacksonville. A variety of ticket options are available, from a one-day $99 pass to a $389 VIP experience. Artists include Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Dianne Reeves, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and more.

33rd Annual Tucson Folk Festival – Tucson, Arizona

Topics and locations vary – May 6th will be led by Joshua LaBaer, discussing amazing scientific breakthroughs in cancer research. Spring Butterfly Exhibit, Desert Botanical Gardens – Phoenix, AZ

Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival – San Francisco, California

If you’re a frequent follower of our blog, you may have seen our post about cherry blossom festivals being perfect date activities – and we still believe that! We’ve loved being able to recommend the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival because it falls across two weekends in April (and there are events during the week too!). It’s always great to find a date activity that works with a lot of schedules!

Desert Botanical Garden – Phoenix, Arizona

There’s no better way to celebrate spring than to visit a local botanical garden. Blues at the Winery – Claremont, Florida

Seven Seas Food Festival – Orlando, Florida
Ends April 29th

This festival is hosted by SeaWorld, and technically started in late February. Each weekend, experience culinary marketplaces throughout the park and live concerts. Menus include things such as German, Polynesian, and All-American. Visit the website here.

 

6 Can’t Miss Cherry Blossom Festivals, April 2018

Cherry blossom festivals are a fantastic spring daytime date. Depending on the festival, you might get a chance to experience a Japanese tea ceremony, a traditional dance performance or even a cosplay competition. Plus, you get to spend some time outdoors in the spring weather!
