Book Club: When Two Become Three, Chapter 1

“Being a parent will rock your world so much that is it naive to think that it won’t affect your relationship with your spouse.”

Over the next few weeks, we will be reading the book When Two Become Three: Nurturing Your Marriage After Baby Arrives by Mark E. Crawford, PhD. It covers a topic that many parenting books leave out – how to make sure you’re taking care of your relationship while going through a ton of stressful life changes.

“92% of parents described more conflict and disagreement after they had a baby.”

Not convinced that it’s worth focusing on? Chapter One, The Journey Begins, provides a ton of compelling arguments as to why it’s more important than you might think. There’s the obvious – don’t you want your children to grow up in a harmonious home? – as well as the long-term – raising children is only one part of a marriage. Once the kids are grown and out of the house, you’ll want a relationship to come back to.  It’s even mentioned that those who are in unhappy marriages suffer worse emotional and physical health!

“New parents spend all of their time parenting and not enough time ‘spousing.'”

Convinced? Concerned? Never fear! Keep an eye on this spot, and we’ll tackle this book together – pick it up on Amazon here. By the time we’re done, you’ll be armed with a ton of tools and tips on how to keep your marriage strong!
